Anyone who's ever driven through the roads of Costa Rica will tell you that it's quite an interesting drive. Whether you're passing through unpaved roads and leaving a cloud of dust behind you or trying to maneuver a winding road with a big truck coming towards you while you can't imagine another car could possibly fit on the same road, it's not quite for the faint hearted.
The drive from La Fortuna to Monteverde is not the worst of roads, though it does have its share of 'dangerous bridges' that will trigger alerts from your GPS. When my friend and I left La Fortuna in the morning our goal was to safely arrive at Monteverde. Somewhere along that drive we started seeing signs advertising a microbrewery. And since my friend is a big fan of beer we decided to stop and check it out. But we missed the turn and it was impossible to turn around. Just as we were about to shrug it off thinking we didn't plan to find it anyway we saw another larger sign and realized that we didn't miss it. And so we detoured a bit, did a beer tasting, and bought a growler to take with us.
