7 New Yorkers, mostly from the Syracuse area, spent 6 days on a kayaking adventure in the Misty Fjords area of the Tongass National Forest, AK. It's a truly spectacular place, with 3000 foot fjord walls, orca, seals, grizzlies, black bear and some great fishing. It's difficult to describe the scale of the Alaskan wilderness; much larger and more remote than I could have ever imagined. A most memorable trip for 3 father and son pairs too. We slept in tents, ate well, hiked up the mountains and changed campsites 3 times (everything went into the kayaks). Southeast Exposure did a nice job providing the guide service and all the gear. There are plans to go back and run the Stikine River in AK. next. If you love the outdoors, you must see the Alaskan wilderness.
