Where The Great Alaskan Highway Begins
At a roundabout in the center of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, the truly intrepid will begin their journey on the Alaska Highway. Considered the road to America's last frontier, the 1,390 mile long Highway is announced by a big sign and the interpretive sculpture of a gold miner pointing west. Take in the town's art gallery and enjoy the cell reception while you are there because once you are on the highway, you're more likely to pick up hitchhikers than cell towers.
