24 Hours in the Sahara
While on my trip to Morocco with Wildland Adventures I got to spend the wildest 24 hours I've ever had traveling! My adventures in the Sahara started with a 4X4 ride out to meet with a nomadic tribe, which was incredible to see that way of life in our day and age. Then a camel ride out to a desert camp to watch the sunset and spend the night. In the morning I woke up at 5 am to see the sunrise over the dunes and it was absolutely breathtaking! The Sahara is one of the grandest landscapes I've had the pleasure of seeing. Then I went right from the camel ride to a snowboard shop, yes, there is a snowboard shop in the middle of the Sahara! Once I picked out a board I headed to the nearest dunes and got to try sandboarding. I have been snowboarding for 16 years, but never gotten to try sandboarding and it was one of the most exceptional travel experiences I have ever had. To cap it all off I ended my day with a stop at a local school in Rissani to handout school supplies to the local children. They were so happy and grateful for my visit, they were chanting "merci monsieur, merci monsieur, merci monsieur". It was pretty adorable and felt so good to help them out. There you have it, 24 hours in the Sahara Desert.
