Hop a Ride on the Free City Circle Tram
As you explore the city you’ll see plenty of sleek modern trams, not at all like the heritage W-Class trams depicted on postcards; but there are a limited number of W-Class trams still running, the most popular being on the free City Circle route. Operating within the city centre in both directions, the City Circle trams pass many of the cities major tourism attractions, including the Docklands, Federation Square, Melbourne Aquarium, Flagstaff Gardens, and close to the Melbourne Museum and National Gallery of Victoria, and run every twelve-minutes. They’re a little bit rickety and the air conditioning is limited to an open window but they’re part of Melbourne’s history, and perfect for the weary urban explorer or those wanting to become better acquainted with the city.
