Makeover for Charleston Standard
Tucked away on Unity Alley, McCrady's is the Charleston institution where Sean Brock got his start in the city over ten years ago and has a long history as a neighborhood watering hole and pub that stretches back to the 1700s. In 2016, the cozy building, with its brick interior and homey bar, got a makeover and was renamed McCrady's Tavern (the restaurant is moving to a separate location nearby). Brock said he took his inspiration for the revamped spot from the Gilded Age, with old-school items like calf's head soup and veal blanquettes sitting alongside dishes such as "beet au poivre" on the new menu.
