Mango Bay Resort Phuquoc on the mid-western coast of the island, is only a short drive from the island’s main town, but it feels like it’s miles away. Cool natural wind enters the rooms and bungalows through wooden shutters. Four-poster beds, ceiling fans and cotton mosquito nets are provided. All rooms and bungalows enjoy views of either the sea or the garden from terraces. Solar-heated hot-water showers are equipped in the bathrooms. Phu Quoc has an extremely chilled beach vibe, which we found a welcome release after quite frenetic travelling on the mainland. The jungle-hut feel of Mango Bay magnifies this, and there's a wellness room for massages. Inside, the rooms have a romantic, rustic feel, with wooden furniture, four-poster beds and some of the most stylish fans you’ll ever see. Bathrooms are both huge and outdoor, with a partial roof and a bamboo fence to keep the neighbors out. A restaurant, a garden and concierge services are offered at this resort. Beach amenities include sun loungers and umbrellas along with on-site recreation like snorkeling and scuba diving. For natural beauty, privacy and calm few places can challenge Mango Bay. This resort is certainly not for everyone due to the outdoor nature of accommodation, but for those looking to appreciate the simple things in life and lose track of time the hotel comes highly recommended.
