Trail Running Mammoth Rock Trail
There are a number of trails in the Mammoth area, but none of them are as iconic as the Mammoth Rock Trail. Lace up your running shoes and start climbing; the trail ascends nearly 500 feet in 2.6 miles. Views of the town and Mammoth Rock, a limestone monolith, make the uphill climb worthwhile. You might even cross paths with the American record holder of the women's marathon, Deena Kastor. The trailhead is on Sherwin Creek Road and tops out on Old Mammoth Road. Keep in mind that Mammoth Rock Trail is multi-use and you will most likely encounter mountain bikers, hikers, and horseback riders.
