Montreux camping on the shores of Lake Geneva
One of the greatest things about the Alps is the camping - some of the best sites are located right on the shores of the most spectacular lakes in the world. Being an regular of the Montruex Jazz Festival allows me the luxury of camping on the shores of Lake Geneva at least once a year. The little camp site we always chose is the Camping Plage Maladaire in La Tour-de-Peilz, about a mile or so from the centre of Montreux - although the campsite itself is pretty basic, it does have everything you need but the best thing is, after a night at the Jazz Festival coming back to the still of the campsite to gaze at the stars is simply magical. Days at the campsite are pretty relaxed as well - basking in the sun, enjoying the mountain views and feeding the cute little ducks that potter about the grounds and the waters of Lake Geneva.
