Held near the end of June each year in Lyon, the Gay pride parade highlights what a diverse culture France is. The French are notorious for blending in neutrally, and The Gay Pride Parade was one of the few times I saw them emerge from their shells and explode in a wave of colour, champagne and music. The Parade winds its way through The streets of Lyon and is seemingly a great excuse to misbehave. I swam in a fountain with a crowd of people, all drunk, all happy, clad in little more than colourful underwear. dancers atop floats blasting music, random strangers kissed, and it wasn't uncommon to run into people you knew dancing without inhibition. It was a rare and beautiful thing to see, and completely transformed the atmosphere of Lyon to warm and welcoming. This would be a beautiful attraction to students and lovers of parties.
