Lyman Museum & Mission House

You can get a bite-size, yet intense, blast of Hawaiian culture and its native people at this Smithsonian-affiliated museum, formerly part of the Lyman Mission House, built for 19th-century proselytizers David and Sarah Lyman from New England. Expect careful and captivating curation across an interesting spread of artifacts, fine art, archives and natural-history exhibits, including a superb mineral and seashell section. The mission house proper can also be visited on a daily guided tour.
