An Unexpected Art Hub
The austere landscapes around Lubbock, Texas—think tumbleweeds you can spot miles away—have long attracted Lone Star State artists. That’s why this city has an established arts scene, albeit one that’s largely under the radar outside of city limits. Complimentary trolley rides take patrons from one city gallery to the next, including the Fine Art Gallery at the Buddy Holly Center (seen here), where past exhibitions have included “Recycled, Re-Seen,” featuring eco-friendly works by five local artists; and GlassyAlley, a mosaic-focused gallery and studio where travelers can also take basic and advanced mosaic art classes.
