Brunch and the Boar
I am not a brunch guy… to be honest, all I know about this Sunday ritual is that, according to the Simpsons, it should end with a piece of melon. So when a friend offered to expand my culinary experiences, how could I say no? As with all adventures in Toronto, this one was purely accidental. The place we had planned to go to was closed, so plan B appeared. L'ouvrier is simple, elegant and packed with charm. Their menu is pretty great too. I ended up having their wild boar bacon with greens. The description was soo simple, but the dish was packed with flavor. Kale, cabbage and watermelon contrasted the salty, smoky flavor of the bacon perfectly. I really enjoyed this brunch thing, I hope we do it again soon and get introduced not only to a cool part of the city, but have my flavour horizons challenged yet again! http://louvrier.ca/gallery.php
