Los Pingüinos Natural Monument
You never know when you might catch a glimpse of a cute Magellanic penguin through the strait, but it's nearly guaranteed within Los Pingüinos Natural Monument on Magdalena Island and the Marta Islands, one of Chile's largest and most important Magellanic penguin breeding sites. Founded in 1966, it's home to an estimated 60,000 breeding pairs of tuxedo-donned flightless aquatic birds and one of the world's best places to view them in the wild.
