The delicious smells wafting from this hole-in-the-wall will woo anyone within a two-block radius. Little Uncle is a tiny shack on Madison Ave. that serves up fantastic Thai "street food" dishes. The menu is tiny (there's always a rotating daily special) but they do everything really, really well.
The Pad Thai is a must-have and comes served in a wrapped up brown paper bag. You'll get three individual packets of peanuts, sugar, and chilies to add on top, according to your liking. I recommend putting just a dash of sugar as it doesn't need much. Then just dump the entire contents of the peanuts and peppers, mix it all up, and squeeze the lime wedge over it. The balance of flavors in this dish is unparalleled. I went two days in a row and can't wait to go back. (Next thing to try: a braised beef cheek bun washed down with hibiscus-lime soda.)
