I first went to this restaurant, hidden deep in a crumbling hutong (alleyway) neighborhood, by myself in a rickshaw one foggy November evening. It’s one of those unique, authentic finds that have remained intact for decades. The roast duck is beyond good. —Alessia Antinori

Beijing's Best Peking Duck
Down a dimly lit alleyway surrounded by traditional Beijing houses and grey tiled roofs is the Li Qun Roast Duck restaurant. Quite an insider spot (Al Gore ate here during his time in Beijing filming "An Inconvenient Truth"), the restaurant is actually in the home of the chef and is one of the only Peking Duck restaurants in Beijing. The chef comes in and prepares the duck at the table before serving, and it goes on the table's massive lazy susan type turntable that adorn all tables in Beijing. Never had Peking Duck? Don't worry, you'll receive expert instruction on how to place the duck and sauces into the pancake to make the perfect 'duck taco.' Not a meat eater? There are plenty of exquisite vegetarian options to partake in. Either way, be prepared for a lot of food!
