Fly High - A Helicopter Ride Over the Country
Immediately upon arriving to the Dominican Republic, by plane, if you look out of the window you can see a stunning landscape. Now imagine if you could get a closer look at that while flying in between mountains. We ended up taking a last minute helicopter ride from the North Shore to the capital, Santo Domingo, and boy was it incredible. We flew over countless rivers, farms, houses and communities. It's cool to see the island from a helicopter because you're still high enough to see the vastness of the island but low enough to catch the details. Like the river seen in the above picture, from a commercial airline you would barely be able to see it. Come down to helicopter flying level and speed and you have a stunning river. There are also countless mountains and other formation to see. Flocks of live stock look like little ants running around, cars and buildings look like lego formations and did I mention how awesome it is to be inside of a helicopter? There are many different tours and operators that leave from the airports on flights. Book a flight through them, and although it's a bit expensive, if you have the extra cash, it's definitely worthwhile.
