It's hard to forget how accessible the Wasatch Mountains are - they literally tower over Salt Lake. It's also hard to pick which hike to do when there are so many!
Lake Blanche is always one of my favorite options. The trailhead is only a twenty minute drive from Salt Lake, meaning you can minimize driving time and maximize time on the trail.
The trail leads south of the Big Cottonwood Canyon drainage, following a side stream 3 miles up to Lake Blanche. 11,000 foot peaks surround the lake , providing for dramatic scenery.
Camping is another wonderful option for enjoying the area!
