Afar tribesman taking salt to trade for Ethiopian coffee.

Afar tribesmen have harvested salt from the western bank of Lac 'Assal for centuries and traded for goods such as coffee from Ethiopia. This tribesman, just leaving Lac 'Assal, was leading a twelve camel train laden with salt over the mountain range to the coffee growing region of Ethiopia. Once trading was complete, the coffee would be returned to Djibouti and sold on the market for cash.
