A visit to the heart of Montparnasse
To continue, retrace your steps to the boulevard Raspail, then turn right (south) until the rue du Montparnasse; veer right and continue walking south (number 25 is the fictional location of the Académie Czerny), then turn left onto the boulevard du Montparnasse. Continue east to the large, open intersection where it meets the boulevard Raspail, the rue Delambre and the rue de la Grande Chaumière. This was the center of Montparnasse when the Lost Generation was resident there, and some of their best-loved watering holes still exist, albeit in much-altered and tourist-trap form. The best of these is La Rotonde, which has retained much of its considerable charm (although its libations have prices that would be sure to astonish Jake Barnes and his creator Ernest Hemingway). (A little less than 1 km/half a mile)
