We decided to do a tour of the island of the Dominican Republic. On our journey we stopped by Samana where a local had told us about a lake. It was called "The Devils Lake". Why? We're not really sure and neither was anyone else. For that matter, it took us a few days before we could find someone that actually had heard of the place and could take us to it.
The hike to get there isn't that tough. It's about 45 minutes to an hour if you have a vehicle. If not, prepare yourself or a 2 to 3 hour hike. It's a great hike though as you'll pass by many different fruit tree's to replenish your energy levels.
We set off on our journey early and arrived with the early morning fog hovering over the lake (had already cleared when we made it closer to the lake). By the time we made it to the lake the fog had cleared to reveal a giant and beautiful lake.
All in all this is a great day trip. The locals here are friendly and inviting. They love the company of foreigners that respect and love their country.
