La Boutique del Gelato in Venice's Castello district is a popular destination with locals and tourists alike. But depending on the time of year, or the person working behind the counter, the service and product can be hit or miss. The gelato is good but pales in comparison to Grom and others---in Castello, beggars can't be choosers.
Scoops of pistachio were rich and tasted like the green, oily nuts were shipped up from Bronte that morning. The staff here can be prickly and borderline rude, so don't expect stellar costumer service. As a rule, if fruity sorbets or gelato are on offer here (peach or mellon, for instance) be sure that the fruit in question is in season.
