Graz, Austria's second biggest city, is sometimes overlooked by travelers, and thus remains a somewhat secret jewel of the country's green south. One of the most striking aspects of this historic town is its integration of modern design and arhitecture. The city's art museum, affectionally dubbed "Friendly Alien" for its futuristic look, is an excellent example of this interesting blend. Its blue paneling, bubble shape and decorative nozzles form a fascinating contrast with the background of terra cotta roofs and church steeples. But apart from its iconic exterior, the Kunsthaus also boasts an impressive list of contemporary asrtists that have shown their work here. Even if it is just to be amazed by the building's architecture, the "Friendly Alien" is definitely worth a visit.
