I grew up in Sydney, Australia where eating a bowl of laksa for lunch was probably something I took for granted because I didn't eat enough of it. When I moved permanently to Vancouver, Canada, I was sad to learn that the laksa is simply not comparable. So I finally satisfied my craving this year with this bowl of laksa at an underground food court in the middle of Kuala Lumpur. Let me say that it was one of the most memorable culinary experiences of my life and that it only cost me less than $5. Hands down, it was the best laksa I have ever eaten. Fortunately, I sort of know in my head how to get there but sadly I cannot for the life of me communicate in writing precisely how to get there.
It would be sacrilegious to leave Malaysia without trying the laksa. However, you do need a palate for hot and spicy because you can feel your tongue sizzle.
