Komodo Coral Reefs
Komodo Coral Reefs

While the Komodo dragons get all the attention on land in this spectacular part of the Indonesian archipelago, it's the kaleidoscope of marine life (over 1,000 species of tropical fish live here) and pristine coral reefs that steal the show underwater. Live-aboard dive boats take keen scuba divers to remote, current-rich sites that draw whales, mantas, dolphins and dugongs. And an easy snorkel outing in Komodo National Park is hardly less wondrous as you'll witness hard and soft corals swarming with anthias and fusiliers and see larger fish, too, including grouper and Napoleon wrasse living in the Coral Triangle's bull's-eye of biodiversity.
