Prayers Before Lunch

Large arrow left

Girls living at Udayan, a boarding school for children whose parents have leprosy, pause for a moment of prayer before eating lunch. Udayan houses 300 children between the ages of 3 and 21, and provides these boys and girls housing, food, education, vocational training, and medical care for most of the year. During school breaks the children return home to their parents who typically live in leper colonies around the country. Visiting Udayan was an amazing experience - a glimpse into a world shunned by most Indians and non-Indians alike.
