This is the home, to the best hamburger in Texas and something that was my family’s Saturday tradition growing up. I still wake up on Saturday’s craving Kincaid’s, especially during football season. Kincaid’s Hamburgers was established in 1946 as a grocery and meat market. In 1964, the head meat cutter decided to start cooking burgers as well and word soon spread as to how good they were. Soon, due to the popularity of the burgers, most of the grocery items were removed and the shelves were cut down to countertop height to provide a place for customers to eat. It was always one of my favorite things as a kid, coming here every Saturday, to go and pick out our spots among the stand-up counters. There are now several locations, but the original classic is on Camp Bowie, near the museum district. Make sure you save some room for those fries and a deviled egg or two. Dig in!
