Khong River House is John Kunkel's latest success in South Beach (Kunkel is known for Lime Fresh and Yardbird). Chef Bee is buzzing, and tasting Thai has never been better. The decor of rustic wood and zinc ceilings (with hanging bird cages), all blend together in a "my kind of style."
I have three dishes to which I'm all but addicted at this place: first, the Vietnamese crispy shrimp—no words can describe them; the cauliflower stir fry is outstanding; and finally, the homemade sorbets—mango, passion fruit, and lychee. All three in one dish and each one better than the next.
I have eaten there four times in one week (believe it), twice in one day, and plan on returning as soon as I get back to the beach!
