Eat, Walk, Love Art at Kapa'a First Saturday Art Walk
The first Saturday of the month, the Island of Kauai comes out of the woodwork to the Eastside’s Kapa’a Art Night. Down the main drag of Old Kapa’a Town, local artists, business owners, photographers, musicians, dancers, fire-twirlers, jewelry makers, sculptors, and food trucks convene for fun, food, art, music, and more from 5pm to 9pm. With both locals and visitors attending the community event, parking can be a little tricky. Be prepared to walk, but with excellent people watching. Typically a very laid-back, friendly, Eastside town, Kapa’a comes alive every first Saturday. All along the strip, the stores are open late and restaurants buzzing. There is no sidewalk, yard, nor alley, left empty.
My Eat, Walk, Love Art at Kapa’a First Saturday Art Walk favorites:
a) El Taco Feliz Food Truck – Carnitas are the best b) Olympic Café for drinks and pupus on the balcony or bar for drinks where you get to overlook all the action c) Ono Family Shave Ice – There will be a line, but be patient. You’re on island time! Don’t do only one flavor. Do a bunch of Aloha flavors like lilikoi (passion fruit), coconut, and pineapple.
