Adrian Khong, owner of Jewel Cafe and Bar, decided one day in 2010 that there was more to life than working as a corporate banker. He quit his job in Singapore and moved to Portland and then San Francisco to study all things coffee. Bursting with passion and knowledge, he then came back and opened his first retail venture in Singapore within the year. His first coffee and sandwich bar is in the central business district and is wildly popular. He opened this second venue in the Farrer Park neighborhood last year, and it has a very different vibe. Super laid-back and relaxed, it’s the perfect place to bring a laptop or a friend and chill out over an expertly pulled coffee and something decadent off Adrian’s food menu.
