Located at the base of a volcano, the La Laguna Botanical Garden is home to spectacular specimens of native and exotic flora—more than 3,500 species of them, in fact. Among them are the maquilishuat, El Salvador’s national tree and izote (its national flower). Parents traveling with their children are likely to appreciate the play area where kids can expend some extra energy.
