My family and I visited the wharf in Monterey last weekend. It was around noon and we all had empty stomach so we wanted to find a good place to have lunch. Every restaurant we passed by had a person in front giving out clam chowder samples to try which can help determine one decision to try out their food. We passed by Isabellas On the Wharf and we were impressed by their clam chowder out of all the others we have tried. So we decided to give the place a try. We told them we wanted to sit where we can view the harbor so they seated us upstairs by their balcony which had a spectacular view of the dock and some sea lions. They served us foccacia bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar as the starter which was quite nice because it allows us to have something to nibble on while waiting for our food. I ordered a clam linguini which was suggested by the waitress. The dish was nicely presented, it looked very appetizing! The clams was perfectly cooked and the sauce really help bring out the taste of the clams but the linguini had a lack of flavor to it. Enjoying this dish while looking at the beautiful view gave me a feeling of being in paradise! One downfall is that this place is a bit overpriced, the portion of my dish was not very filling which was not worth the price. I would definitely come back and try some of their other dishes!
