Built by the British as a reservoir in 1883, this artificial lake and its adjacent park just north of downtown Yangon is a go-to locale for outdoor recreation, complete with a playground and driving range. It teems with colorful birdlife—and young local couples out for a date. Walking the perimeter takes about two hours, and you may see members of the Yangon Sailing Club out on the water. The club also hosts boat and stand-up paddleboard tours. The surrounding neighborhood, one of the most upscale in Yangon, is where Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi spent her house arrest.
