Intipunku, the Sun Gate, takes approximately one hour to reach. It is a mildly sloping trail but all up so you will be breathing heavy the entire way. There are some small ruins about halfway up the trail, but the point of this hike is to reach the gate, where you get a different view of Machu Picchu. For those hiking the Inca Trail, this is the point where they first view the Machu Picchu complex. Nice views of the raging river below and the surrounding landscape also make this hike worthwhile.
