At first glance, the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa doesn’t quite fit the beach bum stereotype of the country’s preeminent Surf City. Beyond its entrance, a sprawling fountain framed by sculpted fish sprays water in unified spurts, and tiers of palm trees shadow pathways that lead directly to the ocean. A sunny pool is close to guestrooms that stretch to private balconies and patios, which adjoin colorful spaces with flat screen televisions and oversized beds.
No, this doesn’t seem like the place for a classic surfing safari. But continue to explore the resort, and the feelings a surfer would hope to experience on the waves – ease, satisfaction, and a little adventure – are open to any guest. Rent a pastel two-wheeler for a ride on the boardwalk, and later feast at upscale and casual restaurants on the property. Then, get away to the Pacific Waters Spa for a namesake massage that will soothe muscles and restore energy. And if it isn’t enough to simply feel as laid back as a surfer, then go ahead and take a lesson with an on-site professional.
When exhilaration and luxury are up for grabs, hang loose at this Hyatt and have both.
