View of the Mountains from the Hot Springs
After two days of hiking Huangshan Mountain, the loveliest--and coldest--mountain I have ever encountered, I spent half a day gazing back at its majestic peaks from the hot springs at its feet. These mineral waters--tapped more than a thousand years ago--will wash away your stress, soothe your aches, and invigorate you in more ways than you could imagine. Not only do these pools come in varying temperatures; they come in varying scents, as well. The rose pool, complete with floating rose petals will enhance your skin. The wine pool will entice you with its carmine red and its scent of grapes and chocolate. The tea pool boasts anti-aging properties. But if what you really want is something to sink into, you can wander over to a pool full what seemed like clay pellets. And if you get too hot, try your courage by dipping your feet in the pool of freezing water. Make sure to grab some of the "ginger soup" in the drink dispenser next to green tea's. It's hot tea that's the perfect balance of sweet and spiced.
