Howth Head, Ireland

"Out to sea will set the soul free"
I went to Ireland alone because I was getting over a heart break and also because my 94 year old grandfather was never able to make it there. I wanted to go there and take pictures to bring back to show him and share with him the experience. I had asked some of the locals the first few nights I was there where I should go that was out of the city limits of Dublin and I kept hearing about Howth Villiage. It was about an hour northeast on the Dart train and it was a great way to see local neighborhoods and the people getting on and off the train. When I arrived there on foot and small backpack it was a little fishing villiage with many local restaurants, a light house and a large park across the street filled with children playing. There were also a ton of boats of all sizes -some for joy and other's for catching large amounts of fish. In the distance was Howth Head where I was headed for a 2 1/2 hour hike. It is a cliff top path where you could see some amazing sights such as seals, a bird sanctuary on the cliffs and just sit quietly on soft heather like plants or on a rock and look out into the ocean. When I was done with the hike and started to make my way back to the villiage I stopped in a small grocery store for some European chocolates, water and I tried pickled onion potatoe chips which are hugely popular. This is a great day trip if you want to explore outside Dublin on your own or with the family and get some excersice, fresh air, culture and fresh seafood.
