With ringside-seat views of Vatnajökull (the Vatna Glacier), the small fishing village of Höfn (which means “harbor”) is the site of a major fish processing factory and a stopping point for travelers bound for more remote corners of the country. Spend some time at the Gamlabúð (“Old Shop”), now the town’s tourist center with an exhibit on the glacier. It used to be—you guessed it—a shop and is over 100 years old. Höfn is also noteworthy as the site of major movie shoots from the first Lara Croft movie to the James Bond film Die Another Day.
