Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden

The journey rivals the destination at this favorite island highlight. Wind along six spectacular kilometers (almost four miles) of coastline, playing peekaboo with the jungle, to reach this private nature reserve beside Onomea Bay. By the time you’re strolling the seven-hectare (17-acre) gardens, you get the feeling nature is just showing off. Bromeliads, ginger, heliconia and orchids jostle for space and vie in beauty. Wander under palms that cast gentle shadows along the paths leading past pools and glittering waterfalls.
