Conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

Step in front of the world-famous Vienna Philharmonic, raise your baton, and feel the power of filling a concert hall with Mozart or Brahms. While the orchestra might only exist on a screen in Vienna’s Museum of Music, the experience of conducting it is actually pretty real. This incredible installation allows you to control the musicians by waving the baton, just like a real conductor would, and play with the pace of several iconic pieces. Even though you probably won’t become a famous conductor during your stay in Austria, this is an easy and fun alternative.

Get Your Name Scored by Mozart

The House of Music in Vienna is by far one of the most interactive museums in Austria. One of the featured attractions is the NAMADEUS installation, which generates a unique melody by Mozart based on your name. The system operates on Mozart’s famous musical game KV 516f that generates unique melodies based on text. Enter your name and you will not only get to hear it played out in the style of one of Austria’s greatest composers, but also receive the score written in his original handwriting. This is a great family experience, as the House of Music has something for all ages.

The House of Music

Haus der Musik is a unique musical interactive discovery museum. The museum was awarded the Austrian Museum Prize for its creative installations and innovative design. The museum is located in the 1st District inside the former Palais of Archduke Charles, which was also the residence of Otto Nicolai (1810 - 1849), who composed the opera “The Merry Wives of Windsor” and founded the Vienna Philharmonic concerts. It is open 365 days a year, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
