not the parkway
Naperville has no shortage of places to put your head on a pillow for the night. If the hotel chain exists, it has an outpost here. Most, though, sit window-to-window on one long street with all the atmosphere of an airport terminal.
The crème brulee to all this instant vanilla pudding is Harrison House Bed and Breakfast. HH has two advantages to the other lodgings. One—it isn't generic. Two—it's the only place within walking distance of all the attractions of downtown Naperville, as well as the train station to Chicago. For those who would rather spend their time walking the river trail or shopping the boutiques than driving the parkway, this is the place to start.
Start, also, with the real version of breakfast. (No, you don't have to cook your own waffles here just to get something hot. Lynn handles the kitchen with an efficient flair.) Fresh flowers in your room? You won't get that on the parkway.
Oh, and you won't be sharing space with a technology convention or a college soccer team. I guess there are more than two advantages.
