Scotland’s national stadium is the soccer mecca with its own unique museum harbouring 2,000 memorabilia from the early years plus it’s the home of the Scottish Football Hall of Fame. Be sure to visit because soccer known as ‘football’ is in the DNA of all Scots. Learn about the two legendary rival clubs the Celtics and the Rangers. When not in full soccer action the massive venue hosts mega concerts. The Rolling Stones, Coldplay and U2 have performed there. Otherwise expect to see the home teams: the Scottish national football team and the amateur Scottish league club called the Queen’s Park FC kick the black and white checkered ball. Be sure to take a guided stadium tour, kick a ball in the Hampden hotshot gallery, a net that measures the ball kick speed and ask about the “Hampden Roar.” Hint: it’s when the capacity crowd cheers a goal. This summer the venue is set to host the 20th Commonwealth Games, Glasgow 2014.
