Hakucho Bridge

Muroran, Hokkaido, Japan

This eye-catching suspension bridge is one of the iconic sights in Muroran. Opened in 1998, it stretches some 720 meters (2,362 feet) across Hakucho Bay. Several wind turbines stand beside the bridge and supply power for the lighting of a nearby golf course. During high winds, pedestrians (and bikes and motorcycles) are not allowed to cross, but great views and photos can be found at various observation points on both sides of the bridge.
