The doorways of a 15th century stepwell gives shade to the thirsty birds. Adalaj Vav, a few kilometres away from Ahmedabad is intricately carved and about five stories deep. Legends say, that the queen of Vaghela dynasty who initiated the construction of the stepwell ended her life by jumping into the waters. Seasonal monsoons now fill the tank with murkier waters. But in summer, it is a great place to beat the heat and nap in the cool shadows.
