From Many Glacier Hotel, we traveled by boat across Swiftcurrent and Josephine Lakes to begin our hike up Grinnell Glacier Trail. From the shore of Josephine, the hike to the top covers about four miles with an elevation gain of 1,600 feet. The colorful wildflowers, aquamarine lakes and ice-cold waterfall you're required to walk through all awaken the senses.
If you're in Glacier National Park, don't miss this hike. And don't miss the boat to lighten the trek. Reservations sometimes are needed weeks in advance to catch the early boat. Be sure to pack a lunch to enjoy as you gaze upon the prize – the view on top overlooking the mighty glacier with its lake, crevasses, icebergs and mind-boggling expanse.
