One of our favorite drives during our May trip to Italy was through the Chianti region in Tuscany, like this road outside Greve. It doesn't take that long to drive through the region - we did it in an afternoon and evening, stopping for an amazing pasta dinner in Greve after watching the sun set over the rolling Tuscan hills. For anyone visiting Tuscany I highly recommend spending a few hours driving through the Chianti region, enjoying the delicious food and wine and the breathtaking views around every corner.

Classic Chianti Road
In May my husband and I visited Italy and one of our favorite drives was through the Chianti region in Tuscany. There are so many beautiful roads lined with stately cypress trees like this one winding through the rolling hills outside Greve, with breathtaking views around every corner. We rented a car for our 12 days in Italy, which I highly recommend. It allows you the freedom to see what you want to be on your own schedule rather than seeing what someone else thinks is a highlight, and you can explore areas like Tuscany, Umbria and the Chianti region at your own pace. The Chianti region is not to be missed on any visit to Tuscany, nor is the amazing wine produced in the region.
