A good part of Ilinois is farming land.
A favourite county of mine is Greene county, a lovely area full of open farmland and hidden farms. During corn season, field after field is filled with beautiful corn stalks that are a perfect reminder of summer.
But, venture out for a drive just as, or after, the corn has been harvested, and plenty of hidden beauties become clear--tractors, animals, houses...some of the prettiest colour contrasts ever.
And the smell of corn and country heat is forever in the air.
Worth the drive, every time.
