After a steamy day touring through the Roman ruins, the Gran Melia in Rome offers the perfect place to cool off. The city's first "urban resort," this hotel stands on the site of what was once home to the Roman Empress, Agrippina, mother to the Roman Emperor, Nero.
Take a dip in the hotel’s pool in the late afternoon and stroll over to the Vatican in the evening (a 5 minute walk from the hotel). In the early morning hours, runners will love the hotel's location to nearby Villa Pamphili, one of the largest and most visually stunning parks in Rome.
I can't say enough good things about this hotel. It's location on the banks of the River Tiber was the perfect spot to spend my Roman holiday.
