Government House
Designed in England to house the governors of Newfoundland, Government House is currently the residence of the lieutenant governor of Newfoundland and Labrador, who acts as the representative of Queen Elizabeth II. The late Georgian–style house is constructed of red sandstone from nearby Signal Hill but trimmed in English Portland stone. Serving as a residence and ceremonial setting, the house is a national historic site that offers free tours with a reservation.
