Books and Music Packed High to the Roofbeams
If there was ever a place to open an old book and smell its past life or thrill to the flick through stacks of vinyl, Gould Book Arcade in Newtown is it. Operated for years by the prickly and eclectic late owner Bob Gould, his legendary store is packed to the roof beams with books, back issue magazines, and vinyl records and CDs, stacked high in corners and in every available space. A short bus ride from the city center transports you to a book lover's dream and a minimalist's nightmare.
